Public Safety Day
Cheverly’s Public Safety Day was a huge hit. Families came out to the town park for an evening of music, food, and frolicking, while members of the Cheverly Police Department, the Cheverly Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), as well as other local organizations, were available to help kids learn about safety and policing. Police vehicles, including a Mobile Command Vehicle, were parked on display across from the gazebo.
Some of the available literature included:
CERT’s mission, role, training course, and how to volunteer. Cheverly CERT is part of the the national CERT program, a national program that educates community volunteers in basic disaster response skills, since as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
